In February 6, 2021, Jamie stopped to render aid to a bad car accident on her way home. While she was helping 2 small children in one of the vehicles, another vehicle traveling down the highway failed to stop at the accident scene and crashed into the vehicle that Jamie was helping. Jamie was crushed and critically injured upon impact. She was immediately tended to by an off-duty firefighter who was also rendering aid at the scene.

Her injuries were so severe that she had to be careflighted to a level one trauma Emergency Room out of town. Her family and dozens of others at the scene watched as she took off not knowing if she would even survive the flight. That night, she underwent 2 surgeries. One was an amputation of her leg to save her life. Jamie spent 5 days in the ICU and underwent a total of 5 surgeries while there. Surpassing all of her doctor’s expectations, she healed quickly and was transferred back to Waco after just 12 days in the hospital.

She was admitted to inpatient rehabilitation at the hospital in Waco where she spent 8 days learning how to adjust to her new life.

Even though Jamie is strong and resilient, this process is hard and it is painful. She has already had to undergo a 6th surgery to ensure that her good leg will be as strong as possible for her to be able to walk again.

She continues Physical Therapy several times a week and goes to the gym to keep up her active lifestyle. She is in the process of getting the perfect fit for her prosthetic leg so that she can go back to living her life in this new normal.

The road will be long and hard but Jamie is up for the challenge. She is blessed that God spared her life so that she can continue to spread her joy and positivity to those around her.

She plans on being active in the amputee community and helping those like her to rebuild their lives. Jamie is so thankful for the support of her family and friends. She has dreams of walking again along with some of her favorite activities such as snowboarding, hiking, swimming, dancing and mountain climbing.

She knows that if God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.
